Garden festival day one

Morning all! Lying in bed and time for a recap on all the adventures of day one here at the Garden festival in Croatia.

After lunch yesterday me and my two new friends (Kristian actually being spelt with a K I have since been told) went back to the festival site which sits on a mini peninsular on the edge of the coast. The site itself is pretty weeny with a "main stage" attached to the side of Barbarellas 60s/70s disco, plus a small eating area (with a big screen for football) and a beach-bar with a decking dance floor over (or "into" accidentally) the sea.

I really can't stop trying to tell you how stunning it is here.
On return to the festival we found Sarah and Peter who had picked an incredible spot to sit right under some palm trees on the waters edge. We spent hours sat there chatting while occasionally stripping off (to swim suits) and jumping into the sea for a dip. The water here is so warm. At one point Peter, Sarah, David and myself all jumped in (8pm ish) while Kristian was sleeping on the grass - and we four floated on the waves in the sea listening to the music from the mainstage filter under the water. Paradise or what?!

We then dried off and went and watched the ultra-cool summery tunes of The Phenomenal Handclap Band from New York. Perfect for the smiley sunset vibe. Post that was Scruffs set and we had a little wiggle in the warm evening air.

I have taken approximately 70 billion photos of the water/sunset/horizon as I cannot tire of the view here.

Today I am due to catch a "party boat" around the mini islands and see some more amazing music and fun times.

Merry Sunday all

Happy KP

Lunch in Croatia

Ahhhhhhh I'm so full. Just had a tasty fresh fish lunch in Croatia with new friends David and Christian - who are writing about the festival and local area. We were joined at our table by the lovely Mr Scruff.
I interviewed him earlier today in an orange lit 60s disco (as you do) so it was nice to have a less formal natter and some quality local grub.
We four had fish and muscles and octopus and sardines and alllll sorts of things that I has never really eaten before. Am now so full that I might sink!
Heading back to the festival in a bit to meet up with Sarah and Peter.

Arrived in croatia

Good morning! It's 8am in Croatia and I'm lying in bed listening to the world unfurl around me before I go to start my day!

Yesterday I met up with this week's winner Sarah and her dad Peter who will be joining me for this weekends adventure at the Garden Festival near Zadar. We boarded our short flight (only two hours) in the baking London heat, and soon after were flying over hundreds of small islands as we came into land in Croatia. The sun was setting over the coast and as we drove to our hotel we watched the countryside views emerge - mountains and rocky hills and pine trees and sea all glowing in the orange sunset.

By the time we were settled and ready to eat it was pitch black outside and we walked along the seafront (in the dark under stars) to a little restaurant by the water for a late dinner. Lit by bulbs hanging from trees and serving local freshly caught fish, it was an amazing little place and we soaked it all up.

Sarah works with young children and Peter is a retired policeman and we had nice long chats into the night.

Today however - the music begins! And after breakfast (and a top to toe coverage of suncream), we are going to wander along the coast to the festival and have ourselves a Croatian adventure :)

Merry Saturday

The King Blues interviewed at Wakestock

I love The King Blues! They are lovely people and great musicians. Having interviewed them a few times in the past - and partied together at the Kerrang! Awards last year - it was a pleasure to see them again in Wales and have a catch up. Have a gander at the strange interview we did together... bless.

Wakestock day three

Morning y'all. 7.50 am here in wales and I have managed to get up, pack up the tent and leg it to the queue to get a bus to Bangor - come on!! As I have said before, worst bit of festivals is the to-and-from - and once you're there you have an awesome time. Well, in an attempt to combat this - I've started trying to have an early last night and an early rise the next day. Worth it for the shorter home queues in the morning! (not very punk rock but nevertheless)

Yesterday was totally weird. I wrote about how horribly windy and wet it was - terrifying gusts that saw someones tent actually blow over the top of a fence and rubbish flying up in the air - very wizard of Oz. Got a text from work saying they thought I should tie myself down to a peg so I didn't blow away! I opted instead for making binliner fashion items for the people working on the site - and eating so much mashed potato that I safely doubled my bodyweight and prevented being dragged off into the air.

By lunchtime id exhausted the entertainment possibilities of a black bag (though am thinking of writing a manual of customising tips) as decided to... Go to the beach! Haha. So armed with anoraks and binliners, me and the winners headed to the local beach to eat pasties and drink tea and - as if thanked for our determination to remain positive and outdoors - the sun came out! And it got HOT! Yeyyy! (quick removal of bag fashion and back to tshirt)

The day then progressed with sunny interviews with Huw Stephens and The King Blues - great live performances from The Futureheads, the KB, Frankie and the Heartstrings and more - and ice cream and fun!

I took part in a bungee-cord relay race (as you do) and won a little hat. :) then won some coconut suncream from a duck on a stick (you know what I mean).
Plenty of sunshine, dancing like lunatics with winner Courteney (embarrassing video to come) and laughing with friends.
A beautiful sunset and lovely sunrise too.
All in all a mad and wonderful weekend..
Thank you Wales :)

Wakestock day three

Wakestock day two

Hello all... Am still in north Wales checking out Wakestock festival in the seaside hills.
Its Sunday morning here and my chance to update you on yesterdays fun.
In the morning I went off to the local marina in a nearby town to watch some wakeboarding performances from some of the worlds best riders. A large crowd hd gathered along the water and we all whooped and cheered as men and women flipped and twisted in the air, jumping off the waves in the wake of the speedboats ahead of them.

Once the display was over, we headed off for some lunch. I was joined by some friends from Virtual Festivals website (who have been hosting some of my 30 fest blogs and videos). A short bus ride back to the site allowed us a few minutes to lie in the grass in the sunshine - before the days musical events began.
I interviewed the evenings headliners Chase And Status, got myself a snap with mr Plan B - and had a good chat with Feeder. I then checked out all their live sets as well as tunes from DJ Zane Lowe and Maximo park.
The night felt way busier and more crowded than before and people were partying until the early hours. I woke at 5am briefly to hear people still dancing away. Dedication!

Yesterday also marked the arrival of this weeks winner Courtney (joined by her sister). They both went and met Plan B and spent the night rocking out around the site. Very nice ladies indeed!
