Standon calling day one

Morning blog readers! Katie here from my tent (hiding from the rain) on Saturday morning here at standon calling. Yesterday was brilliant! The net access is pretty poor however - so updates have been at a minimum sorry!
So... What's it like here... Amazing! There is a cinema and a barbers and a book shop and a mini radio station and an art gallery and a swimming pool and a boules/bowls track and colourful wooden toilets and bars built around the trucks of ancient trees and a piano in the middle of an arena and thousands of people dressed as gorgeous lunatics! Everyone is very friendly and respectful and happy - and the setting and props and buildings and 'set' have so much amazing detail in a totally lovely way. There are families and babies and dogs here - running around like an extended trip to the park. It's like we are all involved in some giant school play thats yet to start. And I haven't even said anything about the music! Big tunes, dance anthems, punk moshing, indie ballads and more. Annnnnd... The winners are great!! Peter and Jennie are very friendly and kind and seem to be having a lovely time :)

You know every week I'm getting a new wrist band.. Or at least one.. And my original plan was to keep them all on for the whole 8 months I'm doing this.. Bad idea. They got kinda scratchy.. So instead I have them all in a massive bag. By the end of it there will be at least 30 - more like 60 - different bands. Will make a good photo or some weird exhibition!

Arrived at standon calling!

Morning! Only 10.45am and is already left home, driven to festival, queued for passes and put up tent! (getting quite speedy at the latter). So... Here is a photo of my bedroom for the next few nights. The sun outside giving the tent a rather mauve glow. Arty eh?

I have been trying to work out what to wear to Standon Calling - with
its fancy dress them of Murder On The Standon Express. I don't really
wanna post weird photos of myself trying on different outfits.. so
instead I have crafted this stunningly-lifelife illustration of one
possible outfit. Am holding a dagger by the way... not a squigy bit of
chocolate cake... though that sounds a tasty option.

For this week's Facebook Challenge - I had to go and tag the 'best dressed' people at Global Gathering with Trident Perpetual Festival stickers.. Unsurprisingly, there were a lot of people to pick from - as GG inspires some pretty mad outfits.

Best Dressed Award goes to the groom-to-be who was dressed as a bride all weekend... with a mankini underneath... see video!

Whatever the weather

I don't want to tempt fate here.. But I've been travelling for 10 weeks now... And I've not had one day of festival rain! Sure there have been days of wind and clouds... But I have been so lucky! Thank you sky!
Mind you.. Didn't stop me being ultra-prepared at Global Gathering with this attractive little number....

Another festival? Sure!

I just got back from Global Gathering - plopped my bag on the floor - and headed out to another festival!! Today the infamous Underage Festival is happening in Victoria Park in London - and I've come to check out the rocking Red Bull Bedroom Jam stage and see some bands. Right now Don Bronco are on stage and getting their bop on. Hip wiggle central!
